How Big Is the GTA 6 Map? What Rockstar Said
The short answer
Rockstar says the map of Leonida is roughly three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2's. It has not given a measurement in square miles or kilometres.
Where each comparison comes from
The three-times-RDR2 figure came from Rockstar in the New York Times feature published alongside the Netflix Extended Look on August 27, 2026 (reported by GamesRadar+). Further comparisons — about twice the size of GTA V's map, and Vice City itself twice the size of Los Santos — were attributed to Rob Nelson but relayed second-hand by a YouTuber who attended a studio preview, as Kotaku noted. Treat those as reported, not as a published Rockstar figure.
Why there is no km² number
A ratio is not a measurement. Any exact area you see online was calculated by someone outside Rockstar, often from fan-made maps built from trailers. We do not publish those as fact, and the full official map has not been released. See setting and characters for locations Rockstar has named.
Size is not length
Rob Nelson has said his own playthrough of the main campaign took about 80 hours (GamesRadar+). That is one developer's run through the story, not an official completion time.
